This program will be a 3-hour symposium that will include 4
presentations, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Objectives
After attending this symposium, attendees should be able to:
- Understand the biology
of bone and the mechanisms that regulate bone formation and resorption
- Review osteoporosis,
including the pathogenesis and associated clinical issues
- Discuss the role of
vitamin D in the regulation of bone function and in the treatment of osteoporosis
- Debate the currently
available therapeutic options for osteoporosis
- Review the role of
cathepsin K inhibition in the treatment of osteoporosis and the emerging
clinical data with cathepsin K inhibitors
